It all began twelve years ago, when filmmakers and parents Michele and Joe decided to turn the camera on themselves to document the educational experiences of their son and his best friend. The year was 1999, and both boys were just beginning kindergarten in New York City. Now, the boys are preparing to graduate high school and American Promise is in its final months of production.
